WANTED: VOLUNTEERS AND DONATIONS

We are planning a Silent Auction/Trivia Night soon to raise funds for the upcoming Suicide Awareness event.( see details for that here OPERATON:22)

A lot of my friends are independent business owners. Whether it's Pink Zebra, Scentsy, Perfectly Posh, Avon, Mary Kay, Lemongrass, Pampered Chef. Are you a boutique owner, tax consultant, personal trainer, baker, cake maker, hairstylist, photographer, professional organizer? I am asking, no pleading for you to consider donating a basket for the silent auction. It can be as big or as small as you wish. You can include your business cards to be placed next to the auction item so that bidders can have your contact info for future purchases. Your name will be listed as a sponsor in the program and as well as the day of the event.

I will be adding a CTC basket of pretties and a gift certificate for a full halloween costume of your choosing.

Friends who dont have a business but would like to donate a basket are welcome and appreciated too! Just pick a theme. BBQ, Spa, Date Night, Family Game Night are always huge hits.

The provider of the basket that makes the highest donation will receive a Special Edition Operation:22 Tshirt so everyone knows you support the fight!

Trivia night will be going on at the same time as the auction. We will be having tables of five and the cost of each table is $25.00 (thats just $5.00 per person for a great night of fun!)

If you cant get a complete team, come anyway we will find you team mates who are short members.

It will be a 50/50 with an option to donate the winnings or split with your team mates.

If you know of any business who might be willing to sponsor the event, please ask around.

I want to make this something that is beneficial and entertaining for a great cause.

Service Member Suicide

It was recently announced that we have lost more service members this year to suicide than in combat. The statement is shocking, considering we are occupying Afghanistan and other war torn areas of the world and everyday another name is added to the list. People don't want to talk about the suicides. Its as if its a shameful secret swept under the rug. According to the Army soldier suicide is up 80%. EIGHTY PERCENT. We are doing something wrong. It seems that those who truly need help are afraid to talk and those who don't want to quickly blame PTSD for any shortcoming they have in life after war. On the news, if someone robs a bank the first thing they report is he was a combat veteran in one of the branches of the US Military. They skirt around PTSD as a motive. PTSD is real and its not an excuse to toss around lightly. I know why our service members don't reach out. The Gentle Giant

There are three men in my life that since childhood I have trusted explicitly. Jaime Valenzuela, Sean McGee, and Kenny Loveless. They have loved and protected me for 25 years and have always been there for me in thick and thin. The relationship was special with those three and even to this day I know for a fact that if I called them and told them I needed help their first reply would be "who's ass needs kicking?" It would NOT matter who, or if I were right or wrong they had my back. Today we lost one of those guys and in a way the world feels a bit less safe. We learned that Kenny passed away. He will be sorely missed by so many. We grew up together in a small farming community in Missouri, in the same neighborhood just one street away. There was a group of neighborhood kids who were together daily usually mobbed up in one or the other's front yard. We were as thick as thieves.
